someone said to me birds are reptiles 
and i had to think
and then i thought goddamn why 
so 
negative
and then this girl asked how’s teaching
and i thought goddamnit
one joke i like to say is that i hate my
students because they’re cheaters and liars
that’s a joke i guess because it’s true and because
people laugh
i’m afraid of getting cranky here at the bar
one of the boys at the bar is a dad
he is inviting me to go trick-or-treating
i tell him what i want is a time machine 
and he says who doesn’t
a couple of leaves together then 
and that is when i start to feel stick
