Sonnet After Ted Berrigan: IV

Softer than copper more sweet than song
30% of questions are unanswerable on television
Where Peter Parker (dead in the comic books)
Doth commit thine riot act, peaceful spine
Your poems can't beat up my poems
Tie up the city on 285, no more than a circle &
Pile-up of would-be lovers. Ted Berrigan
Torn from a dream induced by pills.
There are many dead fathers, but mine
Left unprotected by pills, never smoked
A smoke in his life, never spent a dirty dime.
Cindy came and we joked. It's 1800 hours
Ten times more than degrees in a line so why
Are my hands shaking I should know better
