In these portraits there is plenty of sublimation. There is guilt in the form of a mustache. There is compare and contrast. If you can write with your eyes closed you are at least not limited to what you see. If you listen to the same three songs over and over it might distract you from thinking. You specialize in making people uncomfortable and that is not something you can be comfortable with. But poetry is necessary and what is necessary in poetry is life. The people you love, who knows why. Because you agreed to. There’s nothing words can’t do. At one time you couldn’t write above your emotions, now no one knows what you’re talking about.
